Accurate diagnosis begins with accurate imaging. Our radiology department at Shifa Al Jazeera Hospital is equipped to provide a wide range of medical imaging services that support diagnosis and treatment across every specialty. Radiology is the medical specialty that uses imaging technology – such as X-rays, ultrasound, and CT scans – to look inside the body without the need for surgery. Radiologists are highly trained doctors who analyse these images and provide detailed reports to guide your treating doctor’s decisions. Whether you are referred for imaging as part of a routine check-up or to investigate a specific concern, our team works efficiently to produce clear, reliable results. We understand that waiting for medical results can feel anxious – our team works closely with your treating doctors to ensure your results are reviewed and communicated promptly. Because the sooner the picture is clear, the sooner the right care can begin.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Radiology appointments are typically straightforward and do not require lengthy preparation – though some scans do have specific requirements. When your appointment is confirmed, our team will give you clear instructions in advance. This may include guidance on fasting (not eating or drinking before certain scans), removing metal objects, or wearing comfortable clothing.

On arrival, our radiology staff will explain the procedure before it begins – what the scan involves, how long it will take, and whether you will feel anything during the process. Most imaging procedures are completely painless and non-invasive. For scans requiring a contrast agent (a safe dye used to improve image clarity), our team will explain how it is administered and answer any questions you may have beforehand.

After your scan, images are analysed by our radiologist and a detailed report is sent to your referring doctor – the specialist or doctor who requested your scan. Your doctor will then discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment and explain what the findings mean for your care. If you have any questions about your imaging procedure before your appointment, our team is always happy to help.
