Skilled Surgical Care With Compassion
Surgery is a significant decision – and it deserves a team you can trust completely. Our general surgery specialists at Shifa Al Jazeera Hospital are experienced in performing a wide range of surgical procedures safely and effectively. General surgery is the medical specialty focused on surgical treatment of conditions affecting the abdomen (stomach area), digestive tract, skin, and soft tissues. Our surgeons work closely with anaesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists to make sure every procedure is carefully planned and expertly delivered. We believe that no patient should go into surgery without fully understanding what to expect – which is why we take time to explain every procedure, every risk, and every step of recovery in plain, simple language. Your family’s involvement in this process is not just welcome – it is an important part of how we care for you.

What to Expect During Your Visit
Every surgical journey begins with an honest conversation. During your consultation, our surgeon will take time to understand your condition, review any previous test results, and carry out a physical examination. If surgery is recommended, your surgeon will explain the procedure in clear, simple terms – including why it is needed, what it involves, and what recovery typically looks like.
Before your procedure, you will receive clear instructions on how to prepare – including any dietary restrictions, medicines to pause, and what to bring on the day. Our pre-operative team will carry out necessary health checks to make sure you are fit and ready for surgery. You will have the opportunity to ask any remaining questions before you go into the operating theatre.
After your procedure, our nursing and surgical team will monitor your recovery closely. Pain management will be a priority – our team will make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Before discharge, you will receive written instructions covering wound care, medicines, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments. A family member or carer is welcome to be present during your recovery and discharge – because going home with the right information makes all the difference.
